I do a lot of radio imaging.

Many people call it “Radio Station Imaging,” or as I like to call it, “Promotional Branding and Station Identification.”

In this realm of the business, it is important to make sure that you’re set up as a proper company, that you’re a business. It is not a fly-by-night deal by any stretch of the imagination.

You’d better have the equipment. You’d better be prepared to work a lot and take care of your voice, because radio stations like to use you a lot.

In a contract, traditionally you’re committed to recording a page or two a month, whatever your agent negotiates, or whatever you negotiate for yourself. They’ll stretch that out. They’ll try to get as much as they possibly can out of a page. So radio station voice imaging is little bits and pieces and stuff and there is a page and stuff.

Typically, on a Monday or Friday a bulk of stuff will come in. That’s just the nature of the business.

The business has changed over the years, especially because of the Internet. There’s not as much money flowing around as it used to be. Some of the big companies are changing hands. We all know how that’s gone. The economy is different. But stations are still spending money on station voices. They are still going out and searching for them.

When someone listens to the radio station, in their head they’re hearing the imaging person the voice as the owner. If you’re hired to be the voice of a radio station, you’re that station’s identifier. You represent that station. It is a big responsibility. It’s not just, “You know, I do the voice.” No, that’s the sound of the station. So think of yourself as the radio station’s boss.

So if you’re going to be voicing stuff for radio stations, note that, first of all, the business has changed. There are even more opportunites now because there is satellite radio. There still are revenue stream issues, but if you want to get into it there is places you can put your voice. There are Internet radio stations.

You can do a lot of marketing on your own on the Internet to radio and TV stations. But be prepared to be a business. You’re a businessman. They want to hire you. They want you available. They want you versatile, and there is a certain style you need to keep in mind.

There are perimeters to being a radio imaging voice. So that means listening to what’s out there now, listening to what’s out there in the past, and maybe developing your own style…but within the perimeters. You’re selling the station. You are the station’s voice. That’s a big responsibility.

These awesome devices are taking the musical industry by storm. Jack Johnson, James Franco along with tons of additional famous actors and musicians and standing out with their cool Hawaiian sounds that remind all of us of the islands. As you can envision these expert musicians have already been playing for a while and likely don’t have the same instruments now that they began with. How The Didgeridoo Keys Work
The answer with the intention of the instrument will be in can be single-minded by the thickness, affect and part of the wood being sawed rancid. The shorter lengths can yield privileged pitches while the decrease pitches can be pulled rancid by the longer lengths. A non-penetrating meter can be used to discover vertical migration of water. This device uses the principal of capacitance. When the sensor is placed against a flat surface, pads on the back of the instrument detect moisture to a depth of approximately 5/8 of an inch. Placed against wood, it reflects the content of water as an approximate percentage. When used on other materials, it reflects a reference number for moisture contained in that material, and that reference number allows it to be compared to similar materials that were not affected by water damage.

When more detailed analysis is needed, a penetrating moisture meter is used. This tool is calibrated primarily for wood, but can be used on other materials as well. With various attachments it can measure moisture levels in gypsum drywall, wall paneling, baseboard, interior cavity insulation, hardwood flooring, concrete, etc. The penetrating meter will cause minor damage when used, but those are easily repaired and proper training will assure the best way to use it to minimize its effects.

    Measuring humidity

A thermo-hygrometer measures the temperature and relative humidity present in any given environment. A professional can then take that data and determine the specific humidity, the actual amount of moisture in the air. When evaluating a drying system, a professional must know, understand and use the specific humidity to determine its effectiveness in drying the air, and dry air is needed to achieve dry structure and contents. Tracking and recording the data from the thermo-hygrometer allows the restorer to modify the drying system and take the necessary steps to reduce the levels of moisture in the environment.

Determining the standard level of moisture

A professional will use the proper metering instruments and equipment, and will determine the difference between the measured moisture level and the dry or normal state of building materials. Professional restorers have a thorough understanding of the normal moisture levels of most common building components. Based on the difference between the measured moisture levels and the normal states, the professional determines the appropriate drying times for each material. Areas of the structure that were not affected by the water damage would also be checked to establish the dry standard if possible.

Calculators have shrunk in size and increased in price as consumers have sought out devices that do much more than simple arithmetic. Texas Instruments has their TI-83 Plus model which helps students with their Physics, Biology, Algebra, and Pre-Calculus classes. We’ll examine why this model is so popular with today’s classroom students.

Back in the 1970s, the slide rule gave way to calculators in many classrooms across the nation. Texas Instruments led the way as almost every student owned one of their models. Today, Texas Instruments [or, TI] continues to produce calculators and their TI-83 Plus calculator leads the way.

So, what sets this particular model apart from others? Well, it is pocket-sized, comes with 12MB of memory, does tons of math problems including statistical tests, has a complete alphabetical keyboard, and it can run programs to name a few. Still, if you are a Calculus student it doesn’t do Calculus. However, you can bring the TI-83 Plus along for standardized tests and college admission exams.

The device runs with 4AAA batteries, so you need to make sure you are fully charged before you start your tests or at least carry spare batteries with you.

The TI-83 is not cheap as you will have to pay about $100. for a new one. Expect to pay a lot more if you purchase one through your university’s bookstore; shop online to compare prices too.

The TI-89 may be a better option, especially if Calculus is in your future. Shop and compare and make sure that the model you want provides the calculations you need.

In all, the TI-83 carries on a long tradition of excellence for Texas Instruments. Sharp, Casio, and Canon are chief competitors to T.I., but judging by the TI-83 you will find what you need from the people of Texas Instruments.

A composer’s website functions in many ways and is the main means of communication with the outside world. A website will serve as a reference for your audience, act as your electronic agent, and store valuable media such as photographs, music excerpts, and information such as your biography for media outlets. It is your online business card and is essential to build your career in the 21st century. Following are several key elements necessary to an effective music composer’s website.

    1. Make your site easy to navigate by choosing a clean-cut design which will allow visitors to learn about your music quickly and effectively.

    2. Display your activity by posting dates of recent and upcoming performances of your work.

    3. Keep an up-to-date catalog of your work online. This allows performers or promoters of music to see if your catalog includes something that interests them.

    4. When adding biographical information to your website it is in your interest to provide both full and condensed versions. Often, programs or media outlets prefer a short biography.

    5. Post no less than three music excerpts of your work for listeners to demo as easily accessible .mp3s.

    6. Huge areas of musical goings-on are social networking sites, so create a profile and post some links to your work. Be a part of the scene!

    7. Use professional and easy to remember contact information/email address. That means you should ditch that old guitarhero99 at hotmail.com email address you’ve had since you were thirteen and simply go with your formal name or business name.

An effective website that follows the above suggestions will increase your visibility and undoubtedly lead to extensive career opportunities. However, while you should maintain a certain level of professionalism you should not be afraid to show a little personality. It is certainly good to show your credentials but visitors will feel a stronger connection to you if you show your human side.

    Good luck!

Since no two violins are exactly the same, each kind of violin string will sound differently on various instruments. Determining which strings to make use of also depends upon what style of music you’re playing as different strings will provide, or detract from, the particular needs from the instrument.

For instance, there’s a vast difference in the needs of a classical violinist along with a country fiddler. There can also be great variations in the unique styles of each player, as well as the instrument being played. The responsiveness, volume, playability and sound will all vary with the type of strings chosen.

Basically, violin strings are available in three types: gut, steel core and synthetic core. Modern gut strings have a sheep gut core and are covered with silver or copper wire. Providing complex overtones coupled with an abundant, warm sound, gut strings remain a well known choice with those playing earlier pieces. The drawback to using them, however, is they tend to react to varying weather conditions and require more tuning until they’re adequately stretched.

Steel core may be the violin string of preference for players of non-classical music. They offer a clearer and much more direct sound with fewer overtones than gut strings. The pitch can also be more stable and they tend to be longer lasting. Steel core violin strings are good choices for beginners because of their bright, crisp sound.

Synthetic core strings didnt arrive on the market before 1970s. Many brands of synthetic strings made from nylon along with other composite materials make their way onto instruments since that time. They are popular simply because they provide the pleasant sound of gut string with a more stable pitch.

Another essential consideration when looking for the right strings for your instrument and type of play is the violin string gauge. Various thicknesses and tensions are available in most string brands and also the various gauges will determine the type of sound you produce. A thicker string will produce greater volume and center tone, while a thinner string provides you with a shorter, crisper sound.

If youre new at altering your violins strings then purchasing them at a music store may be in order in the beginning. Most stores usually provide free string change with a purchase, although strings in a music store are often quite expensive due to inventory and other overhead costs.

If you’re comfortable with changing your own strings, or know someone who changes them for you, then you definitely should look around online where violin strings can be found much cheaper. Remember to element in the shipping expense when you compare violin string prices from various sources.

Everybody deeply appreciate the great treasure that is Colombian musical instruments, such as Colombian tiple, made in coral wood, with clear lines and awesome authentic color, with twelve metal strings arranged in four courses. Any professional or student guitarist will find it easy to use in Colombian folk music, and in many Latin American songs. Musicians can use it in Latin American folk jazz music, but also in original songs as well. Tiple’s ethereal and clear sound is also used in classic guitar music creations.

Colombian Cuatro is concert grade guitar; it is made of slices and blocks from curly maple. It has a violin shape and has a great pitch accuracy and finish. The seis’ is a hybrid of the cuatro and a supplementary sixth course tunes a fourth below the usual fifth bottom course. It is also a very popular Colombian musical instrument. This feature allows an expanded bass range. It can be used also for guitar intervals as well, and it makes a awesome music, It sounds as a guitar, but sweeter, faster and louder.

    Original Colombian music instruments
Spanish and African traditions are strongly represented in Colombian music. Traditional quena, a king of flute, and Spanish guitar are very popular. Colombian bandolina has fifteen strings and its sound is beautiful, sweet and clear. It is usually made by hand, of unexcelled quality. The marimba is another Colombian musical instrument; it looks like a xylophone and its keys are made in wood. The arpa is a local version of the harp, the guassa is a rattle. The songs from the Pacific coast are using drums and are tinged with Spanish influence. Due to the Spanish influence, piano music is also very popular in Colombia. The newest music style in Colombia is valenato, based on the European accordion.

Many Colombian musical instruments are beautifully crafted, from the ancient times until our century. The charango, a kind of guitar made in wood, the vessel whistle, the erkencho, a kind of clarinet, the chirimia, an oboe, are carefully made and original Colombian folk music sounds great with them. There are six ethnic zones in Colombia; the music is a hybrid between Indian roots and Spanish traditions. In some regions, there is also a strong Negro influence. Guitars, flutes and drums are always necessary; in the Caribbean zone the most important Colombian musical instrument is gaita, a kind of oboe. In Colombia, music is a tradition. There is a habit to pass folk songs from one generation to the other.

Instrumental Music in Public Worship: History Surrounding the Westminster Assembly

By John L. Girardeau (Still Waters Revival Books, [1888] 2000), pp. 132, 133.

Before the Westminster Assembly of Divines undertook the office of preparing a Directory of Worship, the Parliament had authoritatively adopted measures looking to the removal of organs, along with other remains of Popery, from the churches of England. On the 20th of May, 1644, the commissioners from Scotland wrote to the General Assembly of their church and made the following statement among others: “We cannot but admire the good hand of God in the great things done here already, particularly that the covenant, the foundation of the whole work, is taken, Prelacy and the whole train thereof extirpated, the service-book in many places forsaken, plain and powerful preaching set up, many colleges in Cambridge provided with such ministers as are most zealous of the best reformation, altars removed, the communion in some places given at the table with sitting, THE GREAT ORGANS AT PAUL’S AND PETER’S IN WESTMINSTER TAKEN DOWN (emphasis added), images and many other monuments of idolatry defaced and abolished, the Chapel Royal at Whitehall purged and reformed; and all by authority, in a quiet manner, at noon-day, without tumult.”1 So thorough was the work of removing organs that the “Encyclopaedia Britannica” says that “at the Revolution most of the organs in England had been destroyed.”2

When, therefore, the Assembly addressed itself to the task of framing a Directory for Worship, it found itself confronted by a condition of the churches of Great Britain in which the singing of psalms without instrumental accompaniment almost universally prevailed. In prescribing, consequently, the singing of psalms without making any allusion to the restoration of instrumental music, it must, in all fairness, be construed to specify the simple singing of praise as a part of public worship. The question, moreover, is settled by the consideration that had any debate occurred as to the propriety of allowing the use of instrumental music, the Scottish commissioners would have vehemently and uncompromisingly opposed that measure. But Lightfoot, who was a member of the Assembly, in his “Journal of its Proceedings”3 tells us: “This morning we fell upon the Directory for singing of psalms; and, in a short time, we finished it.” He says that the only point upon which the Scottish commissioners had some discussion was the reading of the Psalms line by line.

    1. Girardeau cites this quotation from the Acts of Assembly of the Church of Scotland, 1644.

    2. Girardeau cites Art., Organ.

    3. Girardeau cites Works, Vol. xiii., pp. 343, 344; London, 1825.

Has been creating music your favorite art? Do you feel that you can conquer the world and be a part of nature singing some of the most melodious songs? If this art is your passion, do you want to perfect it? You can be the next star the sky of music must be awaiting. But there are certain factors that you have to learn while learning music.

Balancing the pitch of the music is what becomes the most important task while learning music. Technically, the ability to differentiate one tune from another in the mixing of so many notes is what makes you have a perfect ear for pitch.

To have a perfect pitch is a skill all musicians and singers strive and definitely would love to develop except that there are only about 10% music students who possess this amazing skill. However, this numbers gets higher with better quality and rehearsals if there are professional musicians. I guess this solves your first question of How To Become A Good Singer. It definitely starts here.

For citing an example, a typical symphony orchestra has 20% to 40% of its musicians with absolutely pure and flawless perfect pitch and it is an estimation that about half of today’s most popular and happening and possibly famous recording artists and singers have this rare and unique skill. The number thereby rises to 87% for the best and top most concert performers.

From these mind boggling statistics, you can conclude that artists with perfect pitch are definitely more successful in their career as a musician or singer. Ever wonder why every singer is simply striving to attain the perfect pitch? If you think about it, the answer is really very obvious.

In other words, if you possess that ear for pure and perfect pitch, your chances of being successful as a singer or a musician or an artist pertaining to music clearly like an instrument player too is phenomenally large and it can be your one shot ticket to stardom as people would love to hear the music that you are making. This is why most artists with a focus of being music-minded singers and musicians take perfect pitch ear training lessons to enhance their career to world class level and being one of the most sought after musicians. Come to think about it; don’t you think it is amazing and simply superb?

Similar to most careers, there are numerous methods to initially enter the makeup artistry industry and quite a few different ways to be a makeup artist. You need to first have a love of makeup. Most makeup artists start as makeup enthusiasts, helping their family and friends to obtain great looks and loving the procedure and makeup products. This may be a great place to begin! Some makeup artists can find clients through recommendations from people they’ve known and will spend their careers this way, never receiving any formal lessons in makeup artistry.

Other makeup artists go a different route: they attend cosmetology school or perhaps a makeup design academy. Cosmetologists learn about hair and makeup and are qualified for licensure after completing their program. The added skills accessible to the licensed cosmetologist are often both beneficial and will broaden your clientele, notably if you also have an interest in hairdressing. If hairstyling just isn’t your thing, cosmetology school is usually not for you.

Makeup artists might also attend esthetician training to understand skin treatment. This can also broaden your base of clients, enabling you to not just apply makeup, but also to increase the quality of your client’s skin. Estheticians are invariably very popular and may give the makeup artist a different paying skill during periods between makeup artist jobs. Estheticians are licensed professionals, having the ability to obtain an esthetics license available after graduation from an accredited training curriculum.

Still other fledgling makeup artists get started in retail. Many department stores have makeup counters that hire new makeup artists to sell their items. Training is provided at work, and can give someone working to get into the makeup artistry industry excellent experience while paying them a wage. Such a job could also help you to determine whether becoming a makeup artist is really the right career path in your case.

And finally, if you are interested in learning more about how to become a makeup artist, please check out How To Become A Makeup Artist at

What are the best blues instrumental music tracks? It’s a great question. Blues and lyrics go hand in hand, but what if you want just the blues without all the words? With that question in mind I set out to find the best instrumentals buried amongst the blues musical landscape. Here is my list of the best blues instrumentals and a little background on the musicians that gave them life.

The #1 spot on my blues instrumental music chart goes to “Juke” by Little Walker. Little Walker, whose real name is Marion Walter Jacobs, is a well known and respected blues singer, harmonica player, and guitarist. He is one of the greats and has been compared to other great artists like Charlie Parker and Jimi Hendrix. He changed people’s views on what they expected from a harmonica player by showing them what was possible. In March of 2008 he was placed in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the sideman category and was the only artist to get in for his work with a harmonica.

The #2 spot on my blues instrumental music chart goes to “Hide Away” by Freddie King. Freddie King, also known as “The Texas Cannonball”, was a great blues guitarist and singer. His guitar style was based off of Texas and Chicago influences that he developed over his twenty year recording career. He has inspired many great musicians such as Bill Freeman, Denny Campbell, and Jimmie Vaughan. He also was one of the first artists to have a multi-racial band on stage with him. Sadly, at the young age of 42, King passed away due to heart failure on December 28, 1979.

The #3 spot on my blues instrumental music chart goes to “Albatross” by Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green. Fleetwood Mac is a British/American rock band started back in 1967. Through the years the band members came and went, but they still were able to gain some success. The only band member to stay throughout was drummer Mick Fleetwood. Their most successful period is when they were led by guitarist Peter Green in the late 1960s.

These are just a few of my favorite instrumental music tracks and they are just skimming the surface of all the great blues instrumentals out there. I hope you enjoyed reading about them and challenge you to get out there and find some of your own and share them with the world. Until next time.
